Scripture: Psalm 51:12 (ESV) “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”

Devotional

There’s nothing more precious than the gift of salvation. Yet, over time, we can sometimes lose sight of the incredible joy of knowing God’s grace saves us. The weight of life’s struggles, distractions, and even spiritual fatigue can dull the joy we once had in our relationship with God. That’s why David’s prayer in Psalm 51:12 is so powerful. After facing his own failures and sin, David cries out to God to restore the joy of his salvation.

David knew that joy isn’t something we can manufacture on our own. True joy comes from the deep understanding that we are forgiven, loved, and redeemed by a holy and gracious God. The joy of salvation isn’t dependent on our circumstances but is rooted in the unchanging truth of what Christ has done for us. When we remember that we are saved by grace, that our sins are forgiven, and that we have eternal life in Christ, joy naturally flows from our hearts.

Yet, it’s easy to forget this joy when we’re caught up in the daily grind or when we face trials. Sometimes, we need to ask God to rekindle that joy within us. We need to be reminded of the wonder and miracle of salvation. When was the last time you paused to reflect on the fact that you are saved? That God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you? That no matter what happens in this life, your eternity is secure in Him?

As we walk with Christ, let’s regularly ask God to restore the joy of our salvation. This joy strengthens us, gives us hope, and reminds us of the depth of God’s love. The joy of our salvation is a gift we can experience every day, no matter what we face.

Action Step

Take a moment to reflect on your salvation story. Write down how you came to know Christ and what that moment meant for you. Spend time thanking God for the gift of salvation and for how He has transformed your life since that moment.

After reflecting on your story, pray for God to restore any areas where your joy may have faded. Ask Him to fill you with the deep, abiding joy that comes from knowing you are saved and loved by Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the incredible gift of salvation. I confess that there are times when I lose sight of the joy that comes from being redeemed by Your grace. Restore to me the joy of my salvation and remind me daily of the love You’ve shown me through Christ. Help me to walk in this joy, regardless of my circumstances, and may it be a testimony of Your goodness to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
