When the Magi arrived to see the child Jesus, they didn’t come empty-handed. They brought gifts—gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Each gift was costly and symbolic, reflecting the significance of the child they came to worship. Gold represented Jesus’ kingship, frankincense pointed to His role as High Priest, and myrrh foreshadowed His sacrificial death. These gifts were acts of worship, expressing their honor and reverence for the King of Kings.

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:10-11 (ESV)

Worship involves giving our best to God.

The gifts of the Magi remind us that worship is not just about words or songs but also about offering our best to God. True worship flows from a heart that recognizes who God is and responds with gratitude, devotion, and sacrifice. The Magi traveled a long way, bringing their finest treasures to honor Jesus. Their actions challenge us to consider what we are offering to God.

What does it mean to bring our best to God? It could mean giving Him our time in prayer, serving others with our talents, or offering our resources to advance His kingdom. It’s not about the size or monetary value of the gift—it’s about the heart behind it. Are we giving out of love and reverence or holding back?

The Magi’s gifts remind us that Jesus is worthy of all we can offer.

He is the King of Kings, the Savior of the world, and the One who deserves our wholehearted worship. When we give Him our best, we honor Him and demonstrate trust in His provision and faithfulness.

As we reflect on the story of the Magi, let’s ask ourselves: What can I offer to Jesus today? How can I express my worship in a tangible way that reflects His worth in my life?

Action Step: Identify one area of your life where you can give more fully to God. It might be your time, talents, or resources. Commit to offering this to Him as an act of worship this week, trusting He will use it for His glory.

“Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” – Ruth Carter Stapleton

This quote reminds us that our gifts to God can also be expressed through love and generosity to others. Let your worship flow into how you serve those around you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the example of the Magi and their willingness to offer their best to honor You. Help me to recognize the ways I can give to You in worship. Teach me to hold nothing back but to offer my time, talents, and treasures for Your glory. May my heart always be grateful for who You are and all You have done for me. Amen.
