Isaiah’s prophecy, written hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth, gave hope to a weary world longing for peace. It spoke of a child born to rule with justice and righteousness, bearing titles that revealed His divine nature and mission. Among these titles is “Prince of Peace,” a name that perfectly encapsulates the purpose of Jesus’ coming.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 (ESV)

Jesus brings true and lasting peace to our hearts and the world.

Peace is something our world desperately needs. The longing for peace is universal in a time of division, conflict, and uncertainty. But the peace Jesus brings is far greater than the absence of conflict—the deep, abiding peace that comes from being reconciled with God.

Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus made a way for us to have peace with God, within ourselves, and with others.

Jesus doesn’t promise a life free of struggles as the Prince of Peace, but He does promise His presence and peace in their midst. When we trust Him, we are no longer defined by fear or anxiety. Instead, His peace guards our hearts and minds, allowing us to rest in His sovereignty and love.

This Advent season, as we reflect on Jesus’ role as the Prince of Peace, let us invite Him into the areas of our lives where we feel unrest. Let us also be peacemakers, sharing the peace of Christ with others and pointing them to the One who came to bring true peace to the world.

Action Step: Identify an area where you need Christ’s peace. Spend time in prayer, surrendering that area to Him and asking Him to fill you with His peace. This week, reach out to someone struggling and share a word of encouragement or offer to pray for them.

“Peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of Christ.” – Sheila Walsh

This truth reminds us that peace is found not in perfect circumstances but in the presence of the Prince of Peace.
