When Growth Feels Slow

Spiritual growth is often compared to a journey, and journeys take time. While we may long for instant change, God’s work in us is steady and patient. When growth feels slow, we must remember that God is still at work, cultivating faith and shaping us into the likeness of Christ.

Slow growth does not mean no growth at all. Just as a seed takes time to sprout, break through the soil, and eventually bear fruit, so our spiritual lives unfold in God’s perfect timing. Even when progress seems hidden, the Spirit is nurturing us beneath the surface.

This perspective frees us from discouragement. Instead of demanding quick results, we can learn to value the process. God uses every season, whether visible or unseen, to make us more like Christ and to deepen our trust in Him.

His work in us will be brought to completion.
Paul assures believers that the God who begins a good work will bring it to completion. When growth feels slow, we can rest in this promise. God does not leave His projects unfinished; He is committed to getting us to maturity in Christ.

This confidence gives us hope. We may stumble and struggle, but God’s grace sustains us. Our slow growth does not discourage Him; it is part of His process of making us more like Jesus.

Knowing that God always completes His work helps us release fear and anxiety. We can trust that every season of waiting and every stage of growth is moving us closer to the day when His work in us will be fully revealed.
