“When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matthew 9:36)

Compassion is a defining characteristic of Christ’s leadership. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus moved with compassion, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, and teaching the lost. His compassion was not just a feeling but a call to action. Christian leaders are called to mirror this compassion in their leadership. It means being sensitive to the needs of those around us, empathizing with their struggles, and taking steps to alleviate their burdens.

Compassionate leadership goes beyond sympathy; it involves a deep sense of responsibility for the well-being of others. It requires us to see people as followers and individuals with unique needs and potential. This perspective can transform our approach to leadership, making us more patient, understanding, and supportive.

This week, make a conscious effort to listen and respond to the needs of those you lead. Let your actions be guided by compassion, whether it’s offering a kind word, providing assistance, or simply being present.

Father, fill my heart with Your compassion. Help me to see people through Your eyes and respond with kindness and love. Let my leadership reflect Your caring nature, bringing comfort and hope to those I serve. Amen.

  1. When Jesus was moved with compassion, He always found a way to remedy the problems people were dealing with in their lives. I like this.
