“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

Jesus exemplifies the ultimate servant leader. In Mark 10:45, He clearly states His purpose: not to be served but to serve. This profound statement challenges us to reconsider our motives and actions as leaders. The call to servant leadership is to prioritize others’ needs, uplift and empower those we lead, and serve without seeking personal gain.

A servant’s heart is marked by humility, compassion, and a willingness to put others first. It’s about being attentive to the needs around us and responding with generosity and grace. This approach to leadership transforms relationships and fosters a community of mutual respect and support. It’s not about relinquishing authority but exercising it with love and care.

This week, look for opportunities to serve others simply and practically. Whether helping a colleague, volunteering for a task, or offering support, let your actions reflect a true servant’s heart.

Jesus, thank You for being the perfect example of a servant leader. Help me to follow in Your footsteps, serving others selflessly and with a genuine heart. May my leadership be characterized by humility and a deep commitment to the well-being of those I lead. Amen.
