Draw Near to God: Cleansing Hands and Purifying Hearts

Scripture:
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” — James 4:8 (ESV)

Reflection:
Sometimes I feel distant from God as if He’s far away. But His Word assures me that He will draw near to me when I draw near to Him. This promise is both comforting and challenging. It requires me to cleanse my hands, purify my heart, turn away from sin, and focus on Him. When I make an effort to draw close to God, He responds with His presence, filling my life with His grace and love.

Action Step:
I will take time today to examine my heart and repent of any sin that might keep me from drawing near God. I will spend extra time in prayer, seeking to draw closer to Him and experiencing His presence more fully.

Prayer:
Lord, I want to draw near to You today. Show me any sin in my life hindering my relationship with You, and give me the courage to repent and turn away from it. Purify my heart and help me to focus fully on You. Thank You for the promise that as I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
