Scripture: Psalm 46:10 (ESV) “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Devotional
In our fast-paced, busy lives, the idea of being still can feel foreign. We are often driven to solve our problems, meet our goals, and keep everything under control. But Psalm 46:10 gives us a powerful invitation: “Be still, and know that I am God.” This is more than just a call to physical stillness; it’s a call to spiritual surrender.
When faced with uncertainty, stress, or difficult situations, our natural reaction is to try to fix things ourselves. We rely on our own strength, wisdom, and understanding to figure out how to navigate life’s challenges. But God calls us to something radically different. He calls us to stop, to be still, and to trust Him.
To let go doesn’t mean to give up. It means surrendering our need for control and trusting that God is in charge. He knows what we’re going through and is fully capable of handling it. When we let go and allow God to work, we experience His peace—a peace that is not based on our ability to fix things but on His ability to hold all things together.
Being still in God’s presence means recognizing that He is God and we are not. It’s a reminder that the world doesn’t rest on our shoulders, and we don’t have to carry the weight of our worries. God invites us to release our burdens and trust that He will take care of the outcome. When we let go, we make room for God’s peace to flood our hearts and minds.
If you’ve been overwhelmed by life’s pressures, God invites you to pause, let go, and trust Him. The peace you’ve been seeking is not found in doing more but surrendering more.
Action Step
Spend 10 minutes today in silence before God. Find a quiet place, and as you sit still, release your worries and concerns to Him. Focus on the truth of Psalm 46:10, reminding yourself that God is in control.
Afterward, write down any thoughts or impressions you received during that time of stillness. How did letting go feel? Did you experience greater peace as you surrendered your concerns to God?
Prayer
Lord, I confess that I often try to handle things independently. I struggle to let go and trust You fully. But today, I choose to be still before You. I release my worries, my anxieties, and my need to control everything. Help me to rest in Your presence and to know that You are God, fully capable of carrying the burdens I’ve been holding onto. Fill me with Your peace as I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
