Sometimes, we begin the journey with passion and clarity, but over time, we feel stuck. Our energy fades, our faith feels sluggish, and we wonder if we’ll ever regain our spiritual rhythm. In those moments, we need to remember that the Spirit who started the work in us hasn’t stopped and is still moving.
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
— Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
God completes what He starts with His Spirit.
There’s a difference between motivation and momentum. Motivation can get you started, but only momentum will carry you through when the excitement fades. And spiritual momentum doesn’t come from sheer willpower—it comes from the Holy Spirit at work within you.
Paul’s confidence in Philippians 1:6 wasn’t based on their perfect track record or unwavering faithfulness. His confidence was rooted in the character and faithfulness of God. “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion…”
Notice the focus: He began the work, and He will carry it forward and finish what He started.
Maybe today, you feel like you’ve stalled. You’re not where you used to be, but you’re not where you hoped to be. The fire you once had feels dim. Your pace has slowed. Your prayers feel dry. And you’re tempted to wonder: Am I moving at all?
Friend, don’t confuse a slow season with spiritual failure. The Spirit is still working—even when you can’t feel it. Sanctification is not a sprint; it’s a steady walk with Jesus over time. And the same Spirit who sparked your faith is committed to seeing you through.
You may have started this journey with energy and passion, but now you’re learning endurance. You’re learning to trust the One who never tires. And the truth?
You are not the author of your faith; God is.
The spiritual momentum you long for doesn’t begin by doing more. It starts by trusting deeper. It begins by remembering who the source is.
The Holy Spirit is not just a helper but the divine finisher of what God starts in you. Even when you stumble, even when you feel stuck, even when you feel unsure—He is still working. He’s still moving. He’s still completing the good work.
So don’t give up. Don’t lose heart. Momentum isn’t lost—it’s waiting to be renewed by the Spirit within you.
Action Step
Reflect on where you’ve seen spiritual progress over the last 6–12 months, even if it’s small. Write a short prayer of gratitude:
“Thank You, Holy Spirit, for what You’ve started in me. I trust You to carry it forward.”
“God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.”

Prayer
Father, thank You for beginning good work in me. Even when I feel tired or unsure, I trust that You are not finished. Holy Spirit, renew my momentum. Remind me that You are still moving, shaping, and completing what You began. Help me walk by faith, not by feelings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
