When we take the time to contemplate the good things that God has done in our lives, we will respond in gratefulness. We soon realize that all of the blessings that we have are the result of a God who loves and cares for us. So I ask, how great are God’s works in your life?

The Psalmist tells us “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre. For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.” Psalm 92:1–4 (ESV)

It is good for us to recognize that God has been better to us than we probably deserve. In spite of the many mistakes that we have made in our lives, God is good to us. For the Psalmist, making music is the fullest expression they could make to God for His steadfast love and faithfulness.

It is easy for us to focus on all of the bad things that are happening in our world and our own lives. Sometimes it may seem that there is nothing but bad news. However, each one of us have something to be grateful for in our lives.

What good things have you received from the Lord? If you are a believer, you have the blessing of salvation and a new life in Him. He may have kept you from the consequences of a life of sin. Has he healed, delivered, provided, or broken a life long addiction. Whatever the case, give God the praise and be glad!
