There are moments when we hit the wall—emotionally, physically, and spiritually. We’ve prayed, planned, and pushed through. But the weariness won’t lift. What do we do when we’re too tired to try, too drained to dream, and too exhausted even to pretend we’re okay? God offers us something better than just “trying harder.” He provides us the strength to soar even when you’re tired of trying.
“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:29–31 (ESV)
The Spirit gives renewed strength to those who wait.
Let’s be honest—some days, you’re just done. You’ve been strong for everyone else. You’ve poured into your family, church, and responsibilities… and are now running on fumes. You’re trying, but it’s not enough. You pray, but it feels like the heavens are silent. You love Jesus, but you’re tired of pretending you’re not tired.
Isaiah 40 meets us in the tension between faith and fatigue.
This passage doesn’t shame us for being weary. It acknowledges that even the strongest among us grow faint. The youth, known for their vitality and energy, still burn out. And so will we—if we rely on our reserves.
But here’s the promise: He gives power to the faint.
God doesn’t reserve His strength for the super-spiritual or the perfectly disciplined. He gives it to the faint. To those who admit their need. To the ones who come to the end of themselves and say, “Lord, I can’t keep doing this without You.”
But notice how that strength comes. Not through hustle. Not through striving. But through waiting.
Waiting on the Lord isn’t passive. It’s not sitting around hoping for something to change. Instead, it’s an active, trusting posture—fixing our eyes on God with expectation, even when we don’t feel strong. It’s spiritual stillness, fueled by faith.
And when we wait? Something supernatural happens.
We’re not just picked up—we’re lifted. We begin to soar like eagles. That image is powerful. Eagles don’t flap frantically to stay in the air. They spread their wings and ride the wind. The current carries them. That’s what the Holy Spirit does for us. He lifts us beyond our limits, not because we’re strong, but because He is.
You don’t have to live drained. You don’t have to keep trying in your strength. Stop flapping. Start waiting. Let the Spirit lift you today.
Action Step
Carve out 15 minutes today for silence. Turn off your phone. Close your planner. Sit in stillness before God. Pray this simple prayer:
“Lord, I’m tired. I wait on You. Fill me with Your strength.”
Write down anything the Holy Spirit impresses on your heart during that time.
“God does not demand that we be strong. He asks only that we be willing to let Him be strong for us.”
— Corrie ten Boom

Prayer
Father, I am tired—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I confess I’ve tried to carry burdens You never asked me to carry alone. Today, I choose to wait on You. I lift my eyes. I still my soul. Holy Spirit, renew my strength. Lift me above the noise, the pressure, and the weariness. Teach me to live carried by Your power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
