It seems that increasingly I am asking my phone to give me an answer to questions I have about various topics. Living in the information age, there is an overabundance of data that is available right in our hands. Consequently, we only touch the surface of the knowledge on the internet.
Each day, the sheer volume of information is growing and it takes advanced technology to store, process, and interpret it. While there is no way for us to know all the data that is available, God’s knowledge exceeds man’s puny internet and data banks! He is what we call omniscient! Which means that He knows all things!
Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does. Psalm 147:5 (The Message)
There is no way that our limited comprehension could understand all that God knows and does. We are limited by our human capacity to understand every detail of God’s knowledge and plan. Regardless of how far our technological advances go, they will pale in comparison to God’s unlimited capabilities.
Therefore:
Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has the Lord ever needed anyone’s advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice? Isaiah 40:13–14 (NLT)
Our limitations keep us from being able to know more than God does. Even if we do try to advise him at times! Yet he calls us to trust Him because He knows what He is doing even if we don’t understand. Which is often difficult to do. (I know that I have the tendency to tell how things ought to be!)
Yet God is aware of every detail of our lives!
And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Luke 12:7 (NLT)
If God knows how many hairs we have in our head, (which seems to be a weird thing to know) He is also aware of what is renting space in our minds and heart. He is aware of the dreams, passions, desires, and hopes that we have. Additionally, he is also aware of every aspect of the circumstances we face.
How does He know EVERY aspect?
“I can see what they are doing, and I know what they are thinking. So I will gather all nations and peoples together, and they will see my glory. Isaiah 66:18 (NLT)
You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. Psalm 139:4 (NLT)
God says that He knows what you, me, and they are going to say before they say it! Because He knows the heart of every individual. He is very aware of what is going to come out of our mouths. Ugh!
While this is certainly revealing of our innermost thoughts, it is also comforting to know. God loves and cares about us so much that He is intricately involved in the details of life. He knows what is happening and knows the plan for our good.
We may not always understand the outcome, I know I haven’t always understood, God knows. He knows our heartaches, pain, struggle, and will bring comfort when needed. Also, God knows how to bring this blog post to a conclusion. So here we go!
Conclusion
God’s knowledge and understanding is infinite. There is nothing outside of His scope that is not known by him. So hidden sin is not hidden. His will, purpose, and plans are established because He even knows tomorrow!
We can praise God for his infinite knowledge. Additionally, we can repent of sin we thought to be hidden. Also, we can take comfort in our relationship with an all-knowing God. He will lead and guide us through the Holy Spirit.
Stay connected my friend!
Blessings,
Chad
