There are times that we need a reminder to realign our souls to the will and desire of our Heavenly Father. The Psalmist understood this need when he wrote: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139:23–24 (NLT) Let me share with you 3 ways to realign our soul with the Father.
There seems to be a theme that is consistent through many of the messages, blog posts, and articles that have been shared lately. It is a theme that may be a product of what we are experiencing in the world today, or it could be what God is speaking to the church. Regardless, I believe that God’s desire is for us to realign our soul with Him on a regular basis.
Every believer understands that in order to keep their relationship with the Lord fresh and vibrant, it needs regular maintenance. Just like a vehicle that experiences miles of bumps and potholes in a road needs an alignment, so does our soul. Fortunately, God is always available through the Holy Spirit to guide back to Him.
The Bible tells us that the church that is described in the Book of Acts, was a group that understood the necessity of Soul care. They were fresh off of a fresh and supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit. This empowered church is our example of actively staying connected in their relationship. Consequently, it was not just a group responsibility, but also an individual one.
Scripture Example
Let me show you. The church was described in this way, “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Acts 2:42–47 (NLT)
This church was facing incredible odds. Not only was Jesus just recently crucified, but the Jewish leaders were coming down hard on the new believers. As persecution increased against the church and the political and cultural pressures aligned against it, the church still moved forward. There was no stopping them because they stayed in alignment with God’s heart.
There are 3 takeaways that I want to share that help us align ourselves with God’s heart once again!
3 Ways to Realign Our Soul
First, we align our soul when we commit to following Christ’s example. The church described above had a fresh experience with Christ and knew what He expected. Jesus had told them to do what he did. Jesus was our primary example of what it means to follow the Father’s heart. He gave himself completely to know and do God’s will. Our heart must be passionate about walking in alignment with Christ’s example.
Secondly, when we gather together as a church to hear the teaching and preaching of the Bible. Faith in God is not automatic, rather it comes from hearing what God has to say through his Word. God has called leaders to teach and preach to equip us for the work of the kingdom. This also matures our faith in him!
Finally, prayer is a key component in the personal alignment of our souls. When we learn to pray that God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven, we submit ourselves to do his will. This prayer is not simply that God would come down and change everything, but that we find what God is doing and ask to be a part of it. God is constantly working in the world today and when we submit ourselves to his will, we are giving God permission to be Lord over everything.
Of course, if you don’t have a relationship with God, then you will need to begin with committing to him first. You can find out more information if you CLICK HERE. This would be the greatest decision you will make in your life! Only then will you find the peace, joy, and wisdom you need in your life.

Pray this way: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139:23–24 (NLT)
