by There is just something often hard to explain about walking with Jesus every day. For the unbeliever, it may be hard to imagine the kind of life that comes with serving the Lord. Each day however, walking in the light of Jesus results in an abundant life now and eternally!
Jesus declared of himself saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 (ESV) This bold statement of Himself confounded the religious leaders of the day. They knew God only through a set of manmade rules and ritualistic religious practices.
When Jesus came into this world, He was the physical representation of God to man. His abundant life was in stark contrast to the leaders of the day. It was also much different than those who followed those leaders. He came to give life and life abundant to those who would follow Him.
Yet in spite of the joy, peace, miracles, and love that He showed, he was still rejected. Rejected by those who loved the darkness and were blinded to the truth. Those of whom loved their sin more than finding true life!
Because of this, Jesus says, “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be seen that his works have been carried out in God.” John 3:19–21 (ESV)
Believers Reveal Who God Is!
Believers are committed to the truth in their walk with God because it reveals who God is. That is why a commitment to walking in the light of God’s character is so vital. We can either represent God for who He truly is or we become a false witness.
Today, the world is judging the church based upon our reaction to the world and its issues. The question we have to ask is if we are biblically representing God or based on our agenda of who God is. We should never misrepresent who God is to a world around us.
His heart is for us to complete the mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus with the world around us. We have the responsibility to represent the King of Kings to the people we come in contact with every day. If we desire to live in the light, we must be commited to also share the light!
It begins with Christ!
