Being encouraged by scripture is a foundational element of our faith as it reminds us of all that God did, is doing, and will do for us. Psalm 20 reminds us why God can be trusted with our personal circumstances in life. Trusting in the Lord begins with remembering what God is capable of doing in our lives.

Scripture

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! May he send you help from the sanctuary and give you support from Zion! May he remember all your offerings and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! May we shout for joy over your salvation, and in the name of our God set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions! Psalm 20:1–5 (ESV)

This Psalm is a cry of the people as they intercede for their king in a “day of trouble.” They ask that God hear the king’s prayer and provide protection and help. God had promised that he would be with King David and keep him in all the places he went.

They asked that God remember David’s commitment and faithfulness to offer his offerings to God. David desired to be close to God’s heart and serve Him with all his heart. He saw God do amazing things in and through his life because of this close relationship.

When we stay close to God, He reveals His heart to us, and we walk according to His will. He will make our way blessed and favored because we have the longing to do what He wants in our lives. When we trust the Lord with all of our hearts, He will put His hand on us and guide our footsteps each day.

It begins with Christ!

If you don’t know Christ as your savior, it begins with the first step. Next, committing your life to serve Him is the most significant decision! Finally, for more information on serving the Lord: CLICK HERE!
